Obama asks Congress to allow U.S. funds to terrorist Hamas govt

We’ve written with concern on the issue of Obama allocating $1 billion of your tax payer dollars to the terrorist-controlled Palestinian territory and now potentially to a terrorist-Hamas unity government. via U.S. seeks Palestinian aid law change – UPI.com.

WASHINGTON, April 27 (UPI) — The Obama administration has asked Congress to let aid to Palestinians continue if Hamas backers are included in a new unity government, observers say.
The proposed change in U.S. law would be necessary because Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, is designated as a terrorist organization and therefore cannot receive U.S. aid. But power-sharing negotiations between Hamas and the rival Fatah faction, which controls the West Bank, may result in a unity Palestinian government that includes ministers backed by Hamas, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The White House sought the change as part of a bill authorizing $840 million for the Palestinian Authority as well as for rebuilding Gaza after this year’s 22-day Israeli military assault.
The Hamas proposal brought criticism from U.S. lawmakers, the Times said — one of whom, U.S. Rep. Mark Steven Kirk, R-Ill., said the move was akin to supporting a government that “only has a few Nazis in it.”
“We don’t want to … bind our hands in the event that such a (Palestinian unity) agreement is reached, and the government that they are part of agrees to our principles,” U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reportedly replied. ~end
Not more than a few weeks ago the Financial Times reported Hillary Clinton as stating this:
Mrs Clinton stressed that the US had worked with the PA to put in place safeguards to ensure that the funds did not fall into “the wrong hands” – a reference to Hamas, which is considered a terrorist organisation by the US.
Forbes Magazine reported the same statement in a much more realistic context:
Clinton pledged that America’s $900 million in new aid to Palestinians–still to be approved by Congress–would include $300 million for Gaza. To blunt concerns that some of these taxpayer dollars might end up bankrolling Hamas, Clinton spelled out that “We have worked with the Palestinian Authority to install safeguards that will ensure that our funding is used only where, and for whom, it is intended, and does not end up in the wrong hands.”
Good luck.
From CNN:
President Obama has not ruled out talks with Hamas but said the group must first renounce violence, recognize Israel, and abide by previous agreements that successive Palestinian governments have reached with the Israelis.
Again, good luck with that. Press TV reiterates what most of the world already knows, that Hamas already IS the elected government of Palestine and any money given to Palestine goes to Hamas:
Top officials in the democratically-elected Palestinian government, Hamas, have emphasized that the resistance will never recognize Israel.
Yet given all that, the Obama administration wants to pass a new law that would allow nearly $1 billion of tax payer dollars going to the “unity” government – should the warring Islamic factions be able to stop fighting themselves long enough to form a “unity” government. Unity apparently meaning, united in fighting Israel and the U.S., in effect then, the U.S. is funding a war against itself.
Less than a week ago, in a piece entitled Clinton: No aid to P.A. with Hamas, Clinton again stated:
We will not deal with or in any way fund a Palestinian government that includes Hamas unless and until Hamas has renounced violence, recognized Israel” and abided by earlier agreements with Israel, Clinton said.
“We want to leave open the door that that can happen,” she said, referring to the possibility Hamas may reform. “We’re not betting on it.”
Nothing has changed so why does Obama want to give $1,000,000,000.00 of your tax dollars to a government both he and Hillary Clinton expect, and have approved, to include the terrorist group Hamas?

Florida Congresswoman Illeana Ross Lethinen raised the issue directly with Clinton in a recent hearing (seen on C-Span) and as reported here, might be the only elected politician paying attention:
Florida Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, ranking Republican on the committee, said many of the administration’s priorities are questionable.
“Another item of grave concern is the administration’s plan to provide more than $900 million in aid for West Bank and Gaza,” she said. “In Gaza, this is tantamount to bailout for Hamas.”
Another Republican, Jon Kyl, proposed amendments to restrict how the funds be disbursed and prevent them from going to Hamas terrorists. He was ridiculed and his amendment deemed redundant. Democrat Shelley Berkley wrote a pointed letter to Clinton laying out here concerns including this:
For years, the U.S. has infused money into the Palestinian Authority (PA), with very little to show for it. Their leaders are no more ready to govern today than they were before we began our funding.
So as not to confuse, Hamas is the Muslim Brotherhood organization who’s sole purpose is the destruction of Israel – anyone who thinks otherwise should read Hamas in their own words via the Hamas Covenant which lays out their purpose, goals, and ideology.
In the midst of what is being called the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, where our government has created the largest deficit in history, giving a billion to anyone is insane. But giving a billion dollars to a self-proclaimed Islamic jihadist group that has stated the United States as its enemy is beyond insanity, and it needs to stop. Contact Elected Officials ASAP.
