Israeli passengers stuck at Bangkok airport

Malfunction leaves passengers stuck on plane for six hours; flight planned for Thursday postponed until Saturday night. El Al: Safety first

Hundreds of El Al passengers who were expected to return from Thailand on Friday were forced to stay in Bangkok until Saturday night due to an unexpected plane engine malfunction.
Passengers on flight LY082, which was expected to take off from Bangkok on Thursday at 1:30 pm local time, were subjected to a six-hour delay after boarding the plane. They were forced to remain on the jet while the crew tried to fix the problem.

"You cannot try to fix the problem at the expense of the passengers who are locked in here for so many hours… we want to get out of this plane right now," a furious passenger said.
The passengers had a heated argument with the crew prior to the decision to get them off the plane and have them stay in the Thai capital for the weekend.

El Al's spokesman said in response: "El Al's Boeing 747 jet that was expected to leave Bangkok Thursday experienced an indicator malfunction that was discovered during the technical checkup. Due to the lack of a replacement part, it had to be sent out especially to Bangkok. The passengers were sent to hotels around the city, and the flight was postponed until Saturday night. El Al sees safety as a supreme value and will not compromise on this matter under any circumstances."
