Benghazi Cover Up: Pentagon’s Latest Timeline Conflicts with CIA, Broadwell May Have Leaked Reason For Attack, Petraeus’ Prior Testimony Called into Question

Benghazi Cover Up: Pentagon’s Latest Timeline Conflicts with CIA, Broadwell May Have Leaked Reason For Attack, Petraeus’ Prior Testimony Called into Question

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta
Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta is a powerful man with a little bump in the road that he cannot ignore.  Panetta cannot ignore the inconsistencies along the rocky road of the Benghazi cover up.  No matter how hard he tries to overcome it, that annoying little bump in the road just keeps popping up and will not go away.
Time is an exact science.  It may be 9:00 in one region and 12:00 in another region, but it is still the same time.  No one has ever seen time in person, but time may be a witness in the upcoming hearings on Benghazi.  The new timeline provided by the Pentagon has been analysed by journalists, and it may not make muster. There appear to be some discrepancies that may or may not be resolved by the pending investigation.
Meanwhile, it appears Paula Broadwell may have inadvertently dropped a bombshell on General Petraeus.  As the updates continue to come in, it appears statements made by Broadwell may indicate a leak of classified information. And legislators insist that at some point, General Petraeus must testify.  Other legislators call his previous testimony into question.

Does the Pentagon’s New Timeline Stand Up to Scrutiny?
As noted on Friday, the Pentagon released a new timeline of events that occured that night in Benghazi.  An update questions that latest timeline.  According to an analysis by journalists who have done their job and diligently followed this cover up from the begining, the Pentagon’s timeline is questionable.
Retired Army Colonel David Hunt, and former CIA officer Gary Burnson discussed General Petraeus and the conflicting timelines with Judge Jeanine Pirro on Fox this weekend:

There appear to be several serious issues pertaining to the Pentagon’s latest timeline of events.  To read yesterday’s in depth report from Jennifer Griffin and Adam Housley on the discrepancies in the Pentagon’s timeline, click here.
What About the Role of General Petraeus?
Very few dispute the hard reality that General Petraeus was to be a key witness in the hearings to convene this week.  Many question the timing of his resignation and the cirumstances surrounding the investigation that lead to it.  Some even question if he was being blackmailed, and if our national security was placed in jeopardy.
Jennifer Griffin spoke to some of these issues on Fox this weekend:

General Petraeus, one of our nations finest warriors and a top military strategist, is a key figure in the pending hearings.  Congressman Peter King (R-NY), is the Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.  He has been actively engaged in getting to the bottom of the cover up.  In the midst of the catastrophic damage done to his district by Sandy, Congressman King took time to speak to Fox News and others about the vital role of Petraeus in the pending hearings:

Did Paula Broadwell Drop a Bombshell on Petreaus?
Today, a whole new twist is being reported.  Has there been a security breach? Did Paula Broadwell leak classified information?  If so, did she receive that information from Petreaus? If so, did she give indirect evidence that Petraeus was not forthcoming in previous Benghazi hearings before legislators last month?
These questions are critical, and must be answered.
This morning a report from Fox questions the role of Paula Broadwell as a possible accidental leak of classified information. And some legislators question the testimony given by Petraeus in earlier hearings that the Consulate was not hit by a terrorist attack.
According to Fox, Broadwell spoke in a speech at the University of Denver and may have revealed classified information that could point to the real reason the consulate was attacked.  The sensitive information appears to be that Broadwell stated Libyan militia prisoners were being held at the CIA annex prior to the attack.
The leak in question occured when Broadwell stated the following in her recent speech:
“Now, I don’t know if a lot of you heard this, but the CIA annex had  actually, um, had taken a couple of Libyan militia members prisoner and they  think that the attack on the consulate was an effort to try to get these  prisoners back. So that’s still being vetted.”
The article continues with information from Fox’s sources:
A well-placed Washington source confirms to Fox News that there were Libyan  militiamen being held at the CIA annex in Benghazi and that their presence was  being looked at as a possible motive for the staged attack on the consulate and  annex that night.
Today’s report goes on to say, that intelligence sources say there were additional prisoner’s from other countries being held at the CIA annex, it was the largest CIA station in North Africa, and most of the prisoners had been moved 2 weeks earlier.
The report also says the CIA has denied these allegations and that some legislators are questioning whether or not Petreaus committed perjury in his testimony last month:
Congressional leaders say privately they believe they were lied to by  Petraeus when he testified shortly after the attack. Some of these members  already considered charging Petraeus with perjury, but said they planned to  withhold judgment until he testified this week. After resigning as CIA director,  the CIA said Acting Director Mike Morrell would testify in his place…..All of this raises the question: What was the CIA really doing in Benghazi in  addition to searching for Qaddafi’s stash of more than 22,000 shoulder-held  missiles that could bring down commercial airplanes, and who in the White House  knew exactly what the CIA was up to?

The American people join Fox in pondering these questions as legislators prepare to convene House and Senate hearings this week to discover the answers.

It was reported last night that the FBI was at the home of Broadwell.  This morning the news broke that another top General is now being investigated.
By order of Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, the top commander in Afghanistan, General John Allen, is currently being investigated for “inappropriate communications”.  The communications consist of 20 to 30 thousand emails exchanged with Jill Kelley, the woman who was threatened by Paula Broadwell.
An FBI investigator who appears to be the “whistle blower” involved in the case, was first contacted by Kelley when she feared Petraeus was being blackmailed. He too, is now under internal investigation for sending her photos of himself shirtless.
General John Allen disputes that he was engaged in any wrong doing in his mulitiple communications with Kelley. While under investigation General Allen will remain in his post as commander of the International Security Assistance Force, based in Kabul.
However Panetta has said that General Allen’s nomination to be the next commander of U.S. European Command and the commander of NATO forces in  Europe has been put on hold while the investigation continues. General Allen was slated to be nominated and likely confirmed by the Senate this Thursday.  Had he been successfully nominated, he would have assumed his new role in early 2013.
Panetta also stated he wanted the Senate Armed Services Committee to act promptly on Obama’s nomination of Gen.  Joseph Dunford to succeed Allen as commander in Afghanistan. Dunford’s nomination hearing to replace General Allen was also scheduled before the Senate for this Thursday, and apparently will proceed.

Today, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is scheduled for a briefing on the Benghazi cover up. Republican Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming hopes to find answers.  Senator Barrosso believes the Obama administration is “stonewalling”.
Formal hearings are also slated for two days from now, on the 15th of this month in the House and Senate.
America is riveted by the Benghazi scandal. As it unfolds we learn much more that we should have known much sooner.  For now, this much we know for certain:
Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans, all brave military veterans, were murdered in Benghazi after requesting security from Washington for months while Al Qaeda took control of the city. Their requests were ignored.  What is more, their security was not beefed up, it was reduced.
One of our national heroes, former CIA Director retired General David Petraeus, has come under scrutiny by both the government and the people for misconduct which may include perjury and breach of national security. Another top commander, General John Allen, is now being investigated.
A third General of impeccable reputation and outstanding record of service, General Carter Ham commander of AFRICOM, also played a role in the events that night in Benghazi. He was in Washington the night of the attack in Benghazi.
He was at the Pentagon and actively engaged as events unfolded during the terror attack that killed Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans. In the wake of Benghazi, he has been reputed to have privately disgreed with Panetta over statements Panetta made to the press. It was recently announced that General Ham will be going into unexpected early retirement.
Simultaneously, some of our highest ranking legislators and powerful government agencies are duking it out over what may yet prove to be the most egregious cover up in American history.
And the American people are now dependent upon their elected legislators to seek justice and bring to light the very ominous circumstances that shroud Benghazi in mystery.  All Americans should support the endeavors of those legislators who seek to do so, for they are fulfilling their role as representatives of the people.
