DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) -- About a dozen cops swarmed Doxtator Street in Dearborn Heights Tuesday looking for two armed robbery suspects on the run.
It all started around 3:00 p.m. Police say two men robbed a drug dealer, who lived at the Canterbury Woods Apartments in Inkster. As the suspects walked back to their car parked on Cecile near John Daly, an off-duty Homeland Security officer noticed something suspicious. They were carrying a TV box. The off-duty officer followed. The suspects noticed and decided to ditch their car and run north to Doxtator Street, but Dearborn Heights Police weren't far behind. They searched garages and backyards eventually tracking down one of the suspects, who was hiding behind Jumana Judeh's shed.
"I watched them jump the fence and they immediately caught someone like ten feet from my back door," she said. "Our police department did really well."
Police searched the suspects' abandoned vehicle and discovered that TV box was filled with several AK-47s, $5,000 in cash and a black mask likely used during the robbery.
The suspects are described as young black men in their early twenties. One has been arrested and is being questioned, the other is still on the loose.
